Cerebellar Architecture: Stripes and Zones

The mouse cerebellum is built around a complex array of Purkinje cells. The basic pattern consists of four transverse zones, each of which is subdivided into an array of narrow parasagittal stripes.

The lecture will explore:

• the molecular patterning of the adult cerebellar cortex
• the relationships between stripes and zones and afferent topography
• the relationships between the patterning of the Purkinje cells and that of the other neurons of the cerebellum
• some implications of cerebellar patterning for cerebellar function.
