Academic Bio

I have a BA in Physics from the University of Utrecht. I attended Brandeis University and obtained a PhD in Physics . The dissertation is titled 'Temporal Firing-Patterns in Populations of Spiking Neurons' and was supervised by Prof Larry Abbott at the Volen Center for Complex Systems .

In 1994 I moved to the Hebrew University where I was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Racah Institute of Physics for four years. In Jerusalem I collaborated closely with Prof Haim Sompolinsky, Prof David Hansel from the Ecole Polytechnique in France, and other scientists at the Center for Neural Computation . In the fall of 1998 I was appointed Research Fellow at the Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit at University College London.
