This workshop will highlight the role of theoretical approaches in understanding development of the nervous system. Likely topics to be covered include

• Axon guidance
• Development of neural morphology
• Elimination of connections at neuromuscular junction
• Development of regular cell distributions
• Retinotopic map formation

Provisional speakers include Melanie Aeschlimann, Stephen Eglen, Bruce Graham, Arjen van Ooyen, Jaap van Pelt, David Willshaw. We hope to discuss recent results and insights gained using theoretical models, along with outstanding problems and likely directions for future research.
